It is so awesome to be back to blogging again. I recognize I have to take baby-steps with it, and everything else on my plate, but i have missed it over the last month and a half. With the holiday season, and the new year, came a new move toa new home, a 15 pound weight loss (yeah, can you believe that, during the holiday season?!!!). So there has been a ton of stuff onmy plate, but that seems to be the usual for me. After i get fully set up in the new home, I will get to vlogging, which seems to be more engaging than blogging sometimes, so that you can see the real me. Thank you so much for following me on my website and supporting me in my musical and life endeavors. Check back soon to see more of what is going on with me, Nichole Ayanna, singer, songwriter, mommy, motivator!

Sometimes you just have to reflect on the wonderful people that surround you and fill your life with purpose and meaning. They give you inspiration, advice, and words of wisdom to empower you. Some can just tell it like it is, and they don’t sugar coat a thing so that you know “the truth” about thangs. I just have to say thank God for my circle of family, friends and fans. It’s really a blessing to know when people are “your” people. They don’t spend time draining you with negativity. Instead, they uplift you and you do the same for them, whether it’s demonstrated through a thoughtful gesture, word, song, or just a knowing that “they have your back.”

You may have read over the past few days that I have been exhausted trying to do all the things that I want to do in my life, be a good mommy and wife, work well, and sing like the performer I was born to be. I had hit a wall because my baby had not been sleeping through the night. I reached out to family and friends who gave me advice as to what to do. Well, I’ve gotta say that last night I used a combination of techniques to get Ms. Thang to sleep. Whatever I did worked, and my hubby and I finally got a good nights sleep, which had been lacking almost ever since she was born. Man, I feel like a new person. Sleep deprivation can really reek havoc on your overall wellbeing and your social life. I’m going to work the same technique this evening too. Wish me luck.

I actually had time to do my hair this morning as well a put on a little make-up…little pleasures you take for granted before having kids.

Do you have “your peeps” that have your back?

Discovering the joy of music with my baby girl, through the street performers at Santa Monica Promenade

Today was such a beautiful day that I packed up my baby girl and brought along my sister Natasha for nice get away to Santa Monica. We walked along the Santa Monica Promenade and had a great time people watching and enjoying all of the street musicians out there. Lailah was mesmerized by this one guy out there that could play the heck out of the drums. I have never seen a drummer…just a drummer, as a street musician, but this guys was ridiculously awesome…just off the chain. Baby girl just had to get her dance on! It was so hilarious watching her bob her head and dance around to the drumming…my baby got rhythm already!this was a day that she was fascinated by so many things. There was another street musician that played the guitar and sang. She just recently has been picking on my guitar at home…so when this guy was finished with his set, she just had to go and strum on his guitar a bit. He was nice enough to let her do it. Can you imagine this little baby walking up to you to you like “can I play your guitar?” First off, I am sure he was surprised she was walking ’cause she’s so little…only stands about 28′ tall. Then she’s pointing like crazy at the guitar, then she actually can strum it a bit. Could this rant of admiration over my baby girl be just her Mommy’s adoration? Naaahhh…she really is an amazing baby.

We then walked over to Santa Monica Pier, which was awesome. I thought, no wonder tourist come from all over the world to Los Angeles, as I overheard a couple speaking a language that I totally did not recognize, eventhough I think I am rather worldly and am familiar with a number of languages. I couldn’t even tell you what it sounded like. We walked along the pier to make our way to the ice cream stand and enjoy some great frozen yogurt. Then Lailah took her first carisalle ride. It was like a mini-vacation for the just the day.

When we came back home I played the guitar a bit (not really that good…yet) and sang, while Lailah danced and sang. I think I have another little music fanatic in the family…

Specific goals for the 90 day challenge and blog entries.

I really believe that by putting my goals out there for the world to see will put me under the pressure and keep me accountable enough to actually accomplish these goals. It’s definitely something I think is scary to do, BUT I think it will keep me in check because I don’t like to give excuses as to why I didn’t accomplish something. So before I write down my goals for the 90 Day Challenge, I have to truly analyze what I can give myself to do without overwhelming myself. I’ve to balance and be realistic. So here is a list so far…

I want to get out at least one email newsletter a week, so that my friends, family and fans (which can all be one person:)) can be kept up to date on the new things that are going on in my life as well as when they can see a new performance or get my latest release. I need to hire a babysitter just to assist me a couple of days a week so that I can practically have another set of eyes and hands watching the baby. I can set aside some time to practice more, get some performance footage, get my email newsletter out and get some much needed couple time with my hubby. I want to maintain a good work out regimen. I have been running a few miles at a time with 4-5 mile runs on Saturday mornings at the beach…BUT haven’t been for the past couple of weeks. I’ve gotta get back on it because I need to lose the last bit of baby weight that I gained when I was pregnant. I want to step my workouts up a notch and probably go to the gym a couple of times a week during lunch. I want to find and buy a house, too. Ok…weremy goals a little too ambitious; 1 email newsletter a week, hiring a babysitter, practicing and tapig performances, date nights with hubby, regular workouts and, buying a house. I think it is all doable, especially if I follow my own advise I’ve written about in previous blogs about scheduling mytime as a Singer/Mommy/Wife /Motivator.

I’ll keep you all updated as to where I am and what has been accomplished. Let me know what your goals are and we can keep eachother accountable. Good luck. Peace and soul grease, Nichole Ayanna
